About Us

The Mole and Chicken gets its name from and English beer and cider house that was built in 1831 in Easington, Buckinghanshire.

The original was named after its proprietors, Mr Mole and Mr Chicken and when themed restaurants first became a hit in the early 1990's the original owners decided on the name "The Mole and Chicken" hacing heard that there was a name-sake already well established in England.

Since then the restaurant has created a strong loyal following for its signature dishes such as the seafood chowder which has already been renamed to dreamy creamy seafood soup (to avoid any confusion!) and our world famous in New Zealand lamb shanks.

Currently owmed by Donna and Ted Robinson, the tradition of relaxed dining and great tasting food has continued.
And while much of the original menu can still be recognised, there have been many new additions in the on going search for new favourties, and to accomodate the evolution of the New Zealand Palette.

We hope you enjoy your dining experience with us and that we have lived up to the well established tradition that is...

THE MOLE AND CHICKEN!
